The Farm Barn is a petting zoo in Hahndorf in the Adelaide Zoo. During our last trip to Adelaide we spent a morning there. Charlee had a blast! She loves animals and really enjoyed being able to cuddle and pet the animals there.

A New Beginning
My father immegrated to Australia from Holland with his family, in the late 50's. I don't have many photo's of my Dad from his childhood. When he passed away, his sister sent through some photo's along with some information about their jorney to Australia. Lat night I created this page about their journey.

A Winter Patchwork Twirly Skirt
Did you know that Prinecesses wear skirts? No? Well they do! And because Miss Charlee is a Princess she must wear skirts. It's very seldom that I can coax her into a pair of jeans or pants. Now that the weather is getting cooler, she's going to need a few more skirts that will keep her stockinged legs warm - a perfect opportunity to give my new sewing machine a workout.
Using this tutorial I went hunting for enough material to make Charlee a new winter twirly skirt. As I didn't have enough, I varied the pattern and made her a patchwork skirt instead, using scraps of cotton drill, denim and corduroy.
She loves it because it twirls. I love it because it's warm and because I was able to use what I had!

Another year older
Yesterday was my Birthday! I turned 31. Last year, on my 30th, I was excited. It felt great to be turning 30. This year, as that number ticked over to 31, I have to say the excitement was missing. The enthusiasm was lacking.......
I spent the day in Adelaide in work meetings. Not the ideal way to celebrate! But when I got home, I was given these...
Handmade by Jaime and Ash! They are getting very good at cardmaking and I couldn't be happier with these precious little gifts. To top it off they wrapped the gift them selves, decorating it with ribbon and butterflies (they know how mummy likes a welll wrapped present!).
And today I picked up this.......
My new sewing machine! Yay. I go on leave at the end of this week and if I'm lucky, I'll get some time to play with my new toy and maybe whip up a skirt or two my skirt loving 2 year old princess.

A Big Girl Bed - Made With Love
Last weekend Charlee moved into a big girl bed.
Greg made it.........(of course) using a plan from here.
Ana-White's plans have been mentioned all over the home decorating blogisfere for the last year. I thought we'd give one of her plans a try when we made the bed. Greg had to make a few moderations to the size, height and materials. Greg also needed to modify the method of joining the frame to the bed head as it was not strong enough or safe.
We're really happy with how it turned out. What do you think? Want to know what Charlee thinks?? She loves it.
Note: The flowers on the shelf above the bed are from my dad, given to us at Charlee's birth. The crocheted blanket is from the mum of a dear friend. She made it for us when Jaime was born, knowing that I would miss not having my mum around to make things like that (my mum was a wonderful knitter and crafts person). So it's nice to have a few of those treasured items in miss Charlee's room.

Gooey
I love to cook. I love to cook yummy food. I am, most of the time, very proud of the yummy food I cook. I have a few favourite recipes that I tend to use a lot. Stephanie Alexanders, pav recipe is one of those.
What I don't do is scrap pages about food. Perhaps I should. What a great way to show off the recipes I'm proud of, record the recipes I love to use and capture an aspect of our everyday lives.
Here is my first ever, food page. That pav was GOOOOD!! Using fresh home layed egges and home grown strawberries, it doesn't get much better.

One Crafting Afternoon
Yesterday Jaime, Ash and I spent the afternoon crafting. I was sewing a birthday present and the girls spent their time making their first felt softies. There was lots of discussion and sketching, cutting and finally stitching.
Jaime's is the Owl on the left and Ash's is the Heart on the right. They had so much fun making these and were so very pleased with their efforts.
