A fundraiser and a creative share

Last Sunday, I attended a fundraising Crop in Support of Heartkids.  This crop was organised by Kathryn and Angela. Both ladies did a great job in putting this event together.

Here are the pages I managed to do while there.

 

 

 

Back in December Smply Fresh Kits was launched by Kelly and Sharon. You can check out the projects I put together using their first kits in the gallery in my side bar. This month sees the release of three new kits. A Patch of Blue and Through the Looking Glass are ready for purchase now and their third will be up soon. So go check them out.

Umm..

(raises hand) My name is Bec and I am a serial procrastinater. I'm one of those "I was gunna do it but..." people!

What am I referring to? I have recieved three awards, one from at least 3 weeks ago, one from last week (or was it the week before?) and one today. So so slack for leaving it so long to acknowledge them...there is no excuse. So my appologies Aga and Peta for leaving it so long.

So firstly Peta awarded me the Kreativ Blogger award. 

   

So now I am supposed to give this one to 5 people. I know this one has done the rounds, so I will just say that this goes to all the wonderful people out there who take the time to share their creative work on their blog. So please, if you read my blog, this award is for you.

A New Month a New Dare

It's the first (well actually the second - but New Years day got in the road!) Friday of the month and that means a new dare has been issued at Aussie Dares. This months Dare is Wet! This prompt can inspire so many different projects, from scrapbook projects with a water theme (think beach, pool, draught, backyard fun...) to projects featuring techniques such paper scunching, tearing, inking distressing and more. For your monthly dose of inspiration head over to Aussie Dare's and see what fabulous inspiration the Creative Team have come up with this!

Here is my take on this months theme:

 

I used a very simple technique; Wet Embossing. This technique was used in two different ways on my layout. The first was to use embossing powder to cover the chipboard elements. The black embossing powder used here gives a very glossy effect whci matched perfectly with the S.E.I papers. The second was to wet emboss a stampled image to create the black corner feature as well as stamping and embossing some butterflies before cutting them out and adhering them to the page.

I am so glad to have finally scrapped this photo. It is one of may fav photos of Jaime but the zebra headscarf was throwing me a little.

Slowly Slowly

So here I am, on the other side of Christmas, looking at the start of a New Year. Our Christmas was lovely and relaxed. The hand made presents were well recieved and I was so very excited to recieved a hand made gift. Greg had spent the past few weeks before Christmas locked away in his shed making some super secret something that I was not allowed to see.

 

Isn't it beautiful? It needs painting and then it is ready to sit out in the garden so I can enjoy it!

These last few weeks have been flat out for us as you may have guessed from my last post. On top of Christmas and New Year we decided to renovate the lounge while Greg had time off. And as usual we have a tight budget to work with.

I think I have mentioned before that our house is Vintage 1960's. It's a wonderful warm home that has not seen a lick of paint in quite few years and at the time we bought it, had curtains hanging in each room that were only held together by the dust that was on them.

So, slowly slowly we are making our mark on this house of ours. Working and changing and doing when we have the cash and the time and the energy. For the past year our focus has been on the outside, in the garden. We have been getting the weeds under control and putting up a boundry fence and mulching and spending time in our vegie patch. It's nice to have it at a stage where it is now just maintanence and our focus can come inside.

I am so happy to have these two finished. There is a long list of rooms to go, but we are getting there. Slowly, slowly!

Lastly, here is a pic of the super sand pit that the girls got for Christmas.

 

At some point we'll put a shade sail over the area, but for now, it's okay. The big girls love it and Charlee will too!
