Every day Jaime and Ash are expected to do a few small jobs around the house; things like making their bed, putting their pj's away, hanging up their uniform, unpacking their school bag, unpacking the dishwasher and packing away their toys.
There have been many arguments in this house over why the jobs haven't been completed and why their lunch box is STILL in their school bag. I have realised that while these jobs are ones that seem common sense and regular, mundane tasks to me, they are easily forgettable to two young kiddies when they have distractions around them like their little sis, the trampoline and their playroom.
So I have created a Chore Chart for each of them. I'm hoping that by having their jobs on display, they will remember what is expected of them and that they will get a kick out of marking each one off as it has been done.
They were fairly easy to make using my Silhouette machine. I got two pieces of sheet metal cut to fit inside two photo frames. Using spray paint, I gave each sheet several coats of paint. I then downloaded and altered a calendar design from the Silhouette store. Each Chart needed two calendars joined in the middle. The Chart grid was cut using self adhesive vinyl. Once I had the Chart grid in place, I created the chore tags using the Print and Cut feature along with the sweet little birds which are available to download from the Silhouette Store. The tags and birds were made with Silhouette's printable magnet sheets.
Both Jaime and Ash (especially Ash - she is a girl who loves to follow a process) are really eager to give it a go.
If you don't have a Silhouette Machine, you could make something similar using laminated cardstock and velcroe sticky dots.
